Melmark is a provider of comprehensive residential, educational, vocational, and healthcare services for children and adults with autism spectrum disorders, intellectual disabilities, brain injury, other neurological and genetic disorders, and related challenging behaviors. These children and adults are treated with respect, care and compassion with a goal of enjoying a meaningful life. Each child/adult is given a specific plan, partnering with their families, to achieve these life goals. Melmark’s 80 acre campus offers a wide range of services, opportunities, activities and programs including: indoor and outdoor swimming pools, tennis courts, stables, fitness center, recreational center, activities and a wide variety of educational programs, just to name a few! The Legacy Foundation provided a grant to their Adult Community Program, to help purchase a van that transports the adults with disabilities into the community. This program teaches pre-vocational skills to adults severely challenged by disabilities. Melmark’s staff members drive them from community homes in Delaware and Chester Counties to campus programs and volunteer opportunities.
