Since 1935, Variety – The Children’s Charity of the Delaware Valley has continued its mission to enrich the lives of children and young adults with disabilities through social, educational, and vocational programs that nurture independence and self-confidence, and prepare them for life. Today their Camp and Developmental Center serves children between birth and age 21 with temporary and/or permanent disabilities resulting from injury, illness, or congenital conditions. The Legacy Foundation was pleased to have the opportunity to support their overnight camping program. The camping program serves over 100 children over a 7-week period. For the children, staying in the overnight camp strengthens their independent living skills, while the activities promote social interaction, physical activity, arts and crafts work. The Legacy Foundation provided a grant to purchase new bedding for the camp’s cabins. The previous beds were almost 10 years old and in need of replacement. We hope this contribution provided the campers with a healthier and more pleasant environment.
