11th Street Family Health Services (The Center) is a comprehensive, nurse-managed health center run by Drexel University’s College of Nursing and Health Professions in collaboration with the Family Practice and Counseling Network. Their mission is to provide quality, comprehensive health services to the clients they serve, with special attention to vulnerable people and residents of public housing units in the 11th Street corridor. They take pride in treating the “whole person” and are recognized as a national model of innovative care. Their success is measured by the solid partnership they share with the community and the thousands of lives they have helped change for the better. Adults and children now have a single point of access for care that addresses both the physiological and psycho-social aspects of the person and family. An expansion of their facilities will help to enhance and diversify the services they provide to the increasing patient needs. The Legacy Foundation provided a grant to The Creative Arts Therapies (CAT) program which is now part of the new facility which opened in the spring of 2014. The funding was put towards the purchase of much needed art supplies, high quality equipment, software, musical instruments and various other materials for their art, music and dance/movement therapy programs. The CAT programs serve the patients/clients by creatively assessing their strengths and discovering new ways to better manage their health symptoms.
