“Tell me and I forget. Teach me and I remember. Involve me and I learn.” – Benjamin Franklin - Legacy Advisors

Brookfield Schools – Established and founded in 1976 as Turning Point and later Camden Country Alternative School in Cherry Hill, New Jersey, as private special education schools. In 1998, their name was changed to Brookfield Academy. Their core mission is to help students that need intensive behavioral/therapeutic intervention. They continue to expand their programs serving students ages 5 to 21 in three locations in New Jersey. Brookfield Schools emphasized focus is to help students struggling with literacy, an ongoing issue with many of their students. Reading and writing, along with social skills are part of the specialized educational programs designed specifically for these special needs students.
In addition, parents pay no tuition for their child to attend any of the private special education schools. All funding comes from federal, state, local tax dollars, which in turn enables the school districts to pay the costs of tuition and transportation for the students to attend these schools.

Their programs provide students with an individualized educational component designed to achieve academic progress. This includes individual counseling by certified therapists. They prioritize the learning process, teach positive social interactions, appropriate social behavior and improving self- esteem. Specialized programs are offered such as, homebound, outreach, best and even an animal-assisted interventions program.

The Legacy Foundation provided a grant to support their Flex-Space Literacy Labs, which would help fund the purchasing of specially designed furniture that is functional and inviting to foster literacy!
